sitting on the back porch
well that's the place to be
there's no one there to bother us
it's just nature and you and me
listening to neighbors yell
soakin' in that barbeque smell until the sun goes down
sippin' on some cabernet
until it carries us away we'll never hit the ground
the back porch makes me reminisce
on all those times i wanted to kiss those beautiful lips
and every time i think about
the place where i got lost and found
i make a beautiful sound
playin' on the back porch
these strings were out of tune
but the music still made it up to heaven
the melody was me and you
the back porch makes me want to sit
and talk with you until we cannot lift our eye lids
and every time i think about
the place where i got lost and found
i make a beautiful sound
well it never seemed to matter
if it was rain or shine day or night
you're the only thing that made it just right
oh how we'll miss that back porch
we're going someplace new
but i'll always be grateful for our time there
it's where i got to know you
